
The
Atlanta Volunteer Fire Department (AVFD) is
currently looking for two types of volunteers.
Volunteer Fire Fighters
#1. Volunteer Fire Fighters - The AVFD is
currently taking applications. Requirements and
Facts are below.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be18 years of age (Under 18 and
interested please contact us anyway as we will
be starting a Junior Program soon!)
- Over the age of 21 may operate the Fire
Trucks while in route to an emergency (Under 21
and you may still operate the trucks at other
times)
- Must be in good physical
health
- Must have good moral standards (Contact us
if you have questions)
- Volunteer, There is no paid compensation on
the AVFD.
- Willingness to attend meetings, training
sessions, and respond to calls day or night 24/7
(We don't expect you to put the fire department
above work or family but we don't know when we
will get called.. it could be at 6 in the
evening or 3 in the morning... )
FACTS:
- Training / Meetings are currently held the
3rd Saturday of every month.
- We have approximately 40-100 calls a year
(Including First Responder calls which is a
"sub-division" of the fire department and just
because you want to be a firefighter does not
mean you have to be a First Responder and
visa-versa)
- There is no compensation, we are completely
a volunteer organization.
- We provide all equipment, instruction, and
materials that you will need. Nothing is
REQUIRED for you to purchase on your own.
- We don't expect you to know how to be a fire
fighter already, we are willing to train and
give you the tools to learn. No Experience
is necessary.
- All interested Volunteers will be voted on a
probationary period by the current firefighters.
